tazkirah

Allah the Almighty says: "Verily, Allah forgives not the sin of setting up partners (in worship) with Him, but He forgives whom He wills for sins less than that. And whoever sets up partners in worship with Allah has indeed strayed far away." [Qur'an 4:116]

Allah 'Azza Wa Jal says: "Oh you who believe, do not follow the footsteps of Satan. And whoever follows the footsteps of Satan, indeed, he enjoins immorality and wrongdoing. And had it not been for the Grace of Allah and His Mercy upon you, not one of you would have ever been pure from sins. But Allah purifies (guides to Islam) whom He wills, and Allah is the All-Hearing and All-Knowing. " [Qur'an 24:21]

Allah the Most Merciful reminds us: "And whatever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatever he forbids you, leave it. And fear Allah: truly Allah is severe in punishment." [Qur'an 59:7]

The Prophet said: “The best of people are my generation (sahabah), then those who succeed them (tabi'een), then those who succeed them (at-baa' at-tabi'een).” [Bukhari & Muslim]

The Messenger said: “The Jews split up into seventy-one sects, the Christians split up into seventy-two sects and this Ummah will split up into seventy-three sects; all of them are in the Fire except one.” Someone asked: “Which is that one, Oh Messenger of Allah?" He replied: “Whoever is upon that which I and my companions are on today." [Abu Dawud & Tirmidhi]

The Messenger said: "Verily, Allah does not take away knowledge by snatching it from the people but He takes away knowledge by taking away the scholars, so that when He leaves no learned person, people turn to ignorance as their leaders; then they are asked to deliver religious verdicts and they deliver them without knowledge, they go astray, and lead others astray." [Muslim]

The Prophet said: “… for indeed, those who will still be alive after me will see many differences; so hold fast to my sunnah and to the sunnah of the rightly guided caliphs after me. Adhere to and cling tightly to it and beware of newly-invented matters, for every newly-invented matter is an innovation and every innovation is a deviation.” [Abu Dawud & Tirmidhi]

Al-Awza’ie (rahimahullah) said: “Patiently restrict yourself upon the sunnah, stop where the people (the companions) stopped, say what they say and refrain from that which they refrained. Traverse upon the path of your Salaf as-Soleh, for indeed what was sufficient for them is sufficient for you.” [Al-Shari’ah al-Ajurri]

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala warns us: "And whoever contradicts and opposes the Messenger after guidance has become clear to him and follows other than the way of the believers, We shall keep him on the path he has chosen, and burn him in Hell - what an evil destination!" [Qur'an 4:115]

Ibn Jawzy (rahimahullah) said: "The planning of Allah is better for you than your own planning, and He could deprive you from what you ask to test your patience."
